Kola Fari presents Rockas Inna Seleka Stylee on Ozcat Radio of Vallejo, California!

Listen to Ras Kola Fari live on our Ozcat Radio internet stream
Mashin' It Up Sunday Nights from 9:00 p.m. until Midnight

Selekta Fari spins an irreverent mix of Pacific Rim, downbeat dub, dancehall, hip-hop, reggae and punk.

Ras Kola's musical passions were ignited as teenager in Richmond, Virginia--the so-called "Greenwich Village of the South". Washington DC in the 70's had become a central hub for the punk, reggae and hip-hop movements.

As Kola puts it, "everything was crackin" at the same time. I listened to Mad Professor KRS One,Bad Brains and Prince Far I. I discovered revolutionary underground bands like The Stooges, Velvet Underground, 13th Floor Elevators,Black Flag,Minutemen,Dead-Kennedys, M.D.C. and Meat Puppets.

I became especially interested bands that were fronts for political and revolutionary movements. The people around me were immersed in a 50's type of mentality--you could be a factory worker or a college yuppie. Music taught me I could be who I wanted to be."

Kola eventually got into performing music himself, playing bass and guitar for bands with names like Revolution Inc., Mystic Stone, Holus Bolus, Synaptic Family among others.

For the past 13 years, Selekta Fari has made his home in Vallejo. He currently performs in and out of character as a self-proclaimed "guerilla theater" specialist. Some of his known characters include AK40Seven and Sub Commander Angola.
