A native of New Orleans, Ajaie's first musical encounters were at Church where her father, a local gospel singer frequently performed. She also remembers dressing up for church and has rebelled against such formality with her casual easy style ever since.
Ajaie developed much of her love for jazz and soul from Lousiana's annual Jazz & Heritage and Essence Festivals. She also developed a passion for radio and got a break deejaying summers at a country music station KNOE AM in Monroe Lousiana.
She continued in radio after graduating from Dillard University with a degree in communications. Ajaie has worked in many different locations around the country and played many different formats--from classic rock to urban/hiphop.
