Vallejo native Ron Carson was born on Mare Island. His father was in the Navy. He was spoiled by his grandmother. At eight years old he learned his first instrument - the trumpet. Ron's step-dad owned the "126 Blues Club".
Ron saw many legendary bluesmen pass through the club: Jimmy McCracklin, John Lee Hooker, Bobbie Blue Bland, Lowell Fulsom, and Vallejo guitarist Piney Clark who was inducted into the West Coast Blues hall of Fame this year. The award was long overdue for Clark who died in 2005 after a 40-year career performing with many of the greats.
Ron soon expanded his repetoire to include the Euphonium. He played in school bands throughout his years at Vallejo Junior High, Vallejo High School, Solano College and UC Davis.
In the 1970's Ron played trumpet with the local band "Persuasion" along with bassist Ron Perry. One day the lead singer got stage fright and Ron stepped up to the plate as a vocalist. The rest as they say is history. To this day Ron loves to sing and sings many different styles of music.
Ron also sings gospel with Ambassadors of the Testimony AKA "ATT" and True Spirits Gospel Quartet, Jordans Ministeries. A churchgoer himself, Ron has worked with TV minister Bishop T.D. Jakes, Pastor Michael T of Jordan Crossing, Johnny Stein of the San Francisco Christian Center and Andre Atkins Church of the Redeemer.
In addition to performing, Ron is also an accomplished music producer and arranger, versatile in many musical styles. He has even worked with rap and hip-hop artists like Potna Deuce, B-Legit an E-40.
